Controls Estimator

Job Purpose: 

To provide controls support and estimates for commercial projects quoted by the department.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review plans and specifications to determine controls product to be estimated 
  • Translate plans and specifications into a specific list of control components needed for a job by selecting appropriate controls for the equipment application
  • Review and complete accurate and timely engineered wiring diagrams and submittals for projects
  • Estimate pricing for needed products and send quotes to customers or commercial department 
  • Obtain external vendor pricing, special quotations from subcontractors as required for products while maintaining competitive pricing levels and maximize gross margins
  • Coordinate prior approval requests, quotes, plans and specs with engineering services department
  • Partner with Account Executives and Territory Managers on projects/jobs to maintain customer satisfaction to ensure repeat business
  • Seek out training opportunities to expand product knowledge and understand processes to enhance the customer’s experience
  • After submittal is approved, handle setting up the project and handing off to the assigned project manager and participating in initial mobilization meeting
  • Facilitate sales and pre-bid meetings to determine sales strategy for projects estimated
  • Answer calls and provide customers with a high level of customer service
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent field of study, preferred
  • 3 years experience with Commercial HVAC experience, a plus
  • 3 years Customer Service experience preferred
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Office, Excel and Adobe
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Possess a satisfactory driving record as determined by Company Driver Policies
