Controls Project Manager

Mingledorff's, Inc. Loxley, AL (Onsite) Full-Time

Job Purpose:

 Application and management of HVAC control projects, from initial design through completion, on time and within budget. Handle projects totaling $1.5 to $2 million annual volume,

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Select and monitor the performance of our Sub-Contractors.
  • Order and track project materials on an ongoing basis to ensure their timely delivery. This also includes determining which materials have long lead times, or may result in installation problems. 
  • Manage engineering/install times and material costs to try to keep under budget. Notify billing personnel of project completion stages, to ensure timely invoicing.  
  • Review new projects with the Control Engineer. 
  • Direct and review the preparation of submittals of those projects containing schematics and technical literature for the contractor/customer by coordinating the various internal personnel (Co-ops, Temps) and external groups (Savannah Eng. Group, EMCOR, Automated Control Solutions).
  • Implement the engineering department procedures and standards used in the installation, commissioning and documentation of control projects. 
  • Submit RFI's to engineers and Mechanical Contractors in a timely manner. 
  • Coordinate project specific details with outside contractors, venders and customers. Communicate to appropriate parties if the schedule cannot be met.
  • Complete as-built documentation for each project assigned. (Eng. Group, etc) 
  • Provide assistance, as needed, to the Control Sales Engineer and Systems Integration Engineer in meeting customer's expectations. 
  • Schedule, manage system start-up and commissioning (Point-to-point checkout) to meet project schedule requirements. Communicate to appropriate parties if the schedule cannot be met.
  • Provide certification training for mechanical contractors on the Carrier products. 
  • Up to 40% travel to customers, site visits, and prospective customers requiring some overnight stay, travel to industry related conferences and training requiring some extended stay
  • Maintain regular, punctual and reliable attendance
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; lay on the floor; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. The employee may work in environments as cold as 20 degrees or as hot as 105 degrees. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering other related field
  • 3 years experience with HVAC Mechanical Systems
  • 3 years experience with Control Systems
  • 3 years Project Management experience preferred
  • 1 year experience in use of drawing packages such as AutoCAD or Visio
  • Proficient computers skills with MS Office
  • Applicable knowledge of computer networks and programming microprocessors preferred
  • Low voltage contractor’s license desired
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Possess a satisfactory driving record as determined by Company Driver Policies
  • Qualify for and remain insurable under Company liability insurance policy 
  • Qualify under federal and state regulations to drive the vehicle in question
